More about the role

As Operational Communications Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how information flows across Argos Operations. You’ll be responsible for delivering clear, timely and action-oriented communications that enable colleagues to execute brilliantly every day. Expect to simplify complex operational activities into engaging narratives, develop tools and templates, and create agile frameworks to empower teams—especially during out-of-hours or weekend events.

Day-to-day, you’ll collaborate closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams. You will plan, design and deliver operational communications across multiple sites, ensuring everyone receives the right information at the right time. You’ll lead key projects such as streamlining message delivery during peak trading periods or incidents, and contribute directly to driving productivity, customer satisfaction, and right-first-time delivery.

 

More about you

To succeed in this role, you’ll be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex operational activity into simple, actionable messages. You have experience planning and delivering communications in a multi-site organisation and are confident using digital platforms to reach colleagues wherever they are. Your stakeholder management and influencing skills will be second to none, enabling effective collaboration and alignment across teams and senior leaders.

Essential

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write simply, clearly and in an Argos/Sainsbury’s tone of voice. 
  • Strong ability to translate complex operational activity into simple, actionable messages that support colleagues to focus on what matters most for customers.
  • Proven stakeholder management and influencing capability, including the confidence to work with senior leaders and cross functional teams to align and prioritise messages.
  • Experience operating at pace in a fast-changing environment, managing multiple priorities calmly and effectively, including during incidents or peak trading periods

 

Desirable 

  • Working knowledge of Argos retail & fulfilment operations.
  • Confident using MS Office and digital communication platforms.
