About the team

Sitting within the Argos Marketing team, the Customer Insight function plays a critical role in helping Argos put customers at the heart of every decision. We work in close partnership with teams across the Argos business to provide a clear, joined-up view of customer, commercial and market performance. Covering both Business Performance and Commercial Insights, this role sits at the centre of how we understand what is happening in our business, why it is happening, and what we should do next. If you enjoy turning complex data into meaningful insight and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, this is a great opportunity to make a visible impact.

More about the role

This is a varied and high-profile role supporting senior stakeholders with insight into Argos’ performance within a competitive retail landscape, while also partnering closely with Commercial category teams to provide category-specific insights, data and research. You will develop a strong understanding of Argos’ strategy and objectives, building knowledge of customer, commercial and market data to support informed decision making.

The role covers two main pillars: Business Performance and Commercial Insights. Within Business Performance, you will work closely with the Business Performance Manager to manage, update and report on Argos’ performance using internal data and third-party market sources. You will support the delivery of regular performance reporting, deep dives and post-investment reviews, confidently overlaying multiple data sources to create clear, actionable recommendations. You will also work with teams such as Trade Planning and Marketing to deliver customer-centric insights that inform trade and marketing planning.

Within Commercial Insights, you will partner with Commercial Insights Managers to support decision making across Argos’ categories. You will help ensure commercial decisions are grounded in customer-led insight, considering customer behaviours, trends and mindsets. There will be opportunities to own stakeholder relationships, present insights in category forums, and support wider category insight projects.

More about you

You are motivated by using data and insight to answer business questions and influence decisions. You enjoy analysing data from multiple sources, validating its quality, and translating findings into clear, engaging stories that land the ‘so what’ for stakeholders. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can balance attention to detail with the ability to step back and think strategically.

You bring a structured, hypothesis-led approach to problem solving, alongside strong organisation and stakeholder management skills. You communicate confidently with a range of audiences, working collaboratively across functions and with external agencies. You are proactive, curious, and keen to build a deep understanding of customers, categories and the broader retail market.

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience analysing and interpreting large datasets within a retail or FMCG environment using customer and/or market data (e.g. BRC, GfK, Circana or similar)
  • Proven ability to combine multiple first- and third‑party data sources to deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations
  • Experience managing data validation processes and responding to stakeholder data queries with accuracy and clarity
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong capability in creating clear, impactful presentations using PowerPoint
  • Evidence of working effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders and external partners to deliver insight-led projects
