What you'll do
As a Skills Specialist at Argos within the People division, you will play a pivotal role in consulting, defining, and managing skills development across the Argos workforce. Working closely with the People Partnering team and a Learning Architect, you will collaborate with senior business stakeholders and subject matter specialists to establish a robust and scalable skills-based learning offer that drives operational excellence. Your responsibilities will include leading communities of expertise, managing the core curriculum, identifying and addressing skills gaps, coaching team members, defining skills assessments, and ensuring all learning solutions are quantifiable and deliver a return for the business. Success in this role will be measured by the uptake, effectiveness, and impact of the learning offer, stakeholder satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

As a Skills Specialist within the Argos People division, you are an experienced learning professional with a strategic mindset, proven ability to influence stakeholders, and a strong track record of defining and delivering skills development frameworks aligned with business objectives. Your commercial acumen, project management skills, and data-driven mindset enable you to diagnose skills gaps, design impactful learning solutions, and measure their effectiveness to drive continuous improvement. With excellent relationship management and communication skills, coupled with a collaborative and problem-solving mindset, you thrive in a fast-paced retail environment and are dedicated to delivering sustainable learning outcomes that positively impact the organisation.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable experience of defining, implementing and evaluating skills or capability frameworks aligned to business objectives.
- Proven ability to consult with and influence senior stakeholders, using diagnostic approaches to identify root causes of skills or performance gaps.
- Evidence of owning or managing a learning curriculum or learning product, including prioritisation, governance and ongoing review.
- Demonstrable use of qualitative and quantitative data to assess learning effectiveness, measure impact and inform recommendations.
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders, including subject matter experts and external providers, to deliver scalable learning solutions.
