In a nutshell
We’re a business serving millions of customers a day, with the UK’s largest loyalty scheme and an ever-evolving set of digital platforms. All this equals over 1.2 billion transactions a year, presenting a volume, depth, and complexity of data that few can match.
We don’t think we’re exaggerating when we say we have the most exciting data set in the country. We’ve got data from billions of transactions for our teams to play with. From it, we build scalable, high-performance products using cutting-edge technology that give our customers an amazing experience. In an inclusive, agile environment, you’ll have the space to be curious, to experiment, and solve real-world challenges. And you’ll get to see the output of your work in the hands of millions of people across the UK.
In the Argos Data & Analytics team we’re embarking on a major data transformation and you’ll stretch the imagination of what the power of data and insights can bring to how we do things. This is an exciting role within Argos Data & Analytics and will drive commercial understanding and development for Argos. You’ll unlock value and use your intense curiosity to find creative ways to land impactful supply chain and logistics products that directly support More Argos More Often.
We believe in analytical data products:
- Automated insights delivered to colleagues in store or store support centre via web or mobile app-based dashboards.
- Automated alerts to support store colleagues in taking prioritised action
- Algorithms to support decision making – either human in the loop or human out of the loop.
We’re looking for many types of Product Managers with one trait in common – a proven history of delivering results. Ideally with experience in some data & analytics - data Warehousing and BI solutions, Machine Learning and Data Science.
What outcomes I need to deliver
- You’ll take ownership of the Retail & Digital Product area. Building the roadmap and grooming the backlog to define the “what” and the “why”.
- You’ll then work with a delivery squad who will be responsible for the “how” and the “when”. You’ll be collaborating to deliver, ensuring blockers for delivery are addressed and business stakeholders fully communicated with.
- Our Product Managers will typically work with an analytical squad to deliver a goal, then pick up other goals as the work progresses and priorities shift.
- We’re a large organisation and relationship building is key. You’ll need to build relationships with business stakeholders, data product, data governance and analytical professionals to deliver the roadmap.
- We have defined a methodology for delivering analytical data products which we use to drive product discovery and delivery to ensure we are building the right things in the right way.
- As Product Manager you’ll be asked to adopt and improve upon our product methodology.
- Day to day you’ll be comfortable facilitating workshops, running agile ceremonies, communicating roadmaps and backlog.
- Your primary focus will be on delivering value for our Argos Retail & Digital divisions
- With great commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills, you will help the business identify opportunities and effectively communicate our products in simple and accessible ways to drive impact.
- You will be an ambassador for good data standards, including ethics, governance, security, and assurance.
What you need to know and show
- You have a strong grasp of data and its power to influence decisions—bonus points if you’ve worked with analytical capabilities, BI tools, or AI/ML products and platforms.
- You’re experienced in agile delivery and modern engineering practices, having partnered directly with analysts, engineers, and third parties to build impactful solutions
- You communicate clearly and confidently with stakeholders at all levels, generating alignment and momentum—even when navigating complex or difficult decisions.
- You contribute to product strategy and own the development of roadmaps and backlogs, ensuring end-to-end customer experiences that deliver against agreed product metrics.
- You’re accountable for the full product lifecycle, from vision to delivery, ensuring prioritisation aligns with agreed goals and measurable outcomes.
- You collaborate closely with analytics and engineering teams, balancing competing priorities and influencing across functions, while also championing a culture of coaching and continuous improvement.
- You lead cross-team and third-party collaboration to launch new features, driving reusability and scalability across the business.
- You evaluate potential partnerships and technologies, helping to identify, assess, and select third-party solutions that enhance our product ecosystem.
- You’ll support the communication and resolution of live product incidents and effectively prioritise, coordinate and communicate the resolution of production issues.
- You’re a natural collaborator who thrives in cross-functional environments, working closely with engineering, data, and product peers to shape direction and deliver meaningful outcomes. You enjoy sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and elevating the thinking of those around you.
- You bring pragmatism, resilience, and proactive energy. With many teams to engage and opportunities to unlock, you’re a self-starter who builds strong relationships, holds others to account, and drives progress across D&A
- You’re focused on delivering value—balancing customer needs, technical feasibility, and business goals. You can craft and communicate a compelling vision and set clear objectives for a group of products.
- You’re technically curious and stay informed about industry trends, especially those influencing sustainability and innovation within your product domain.
- You’re passionate about growing our product community—actively contributing, coaching others, and continuously developing your own skills.
- You’re customer-obsessed, able to define and champion strategies that enhance the customer experience, and skilled at prioritising and delivering outcomes that make a real impact.
