What you'll do
As a Global Ethical Manager, your role will be to lead and drive the company's ethical standards and practises on a global scale. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to develop and implement ethical policies, guidelines, and training programmes that align with our company values and industry best practises. Your responsibilities will include conducting ethical risk assessments, monitoring compliance with ethical standards, and conducting regular audits to ensure that ethical practises are being upheld throughout the organisation. Additionally, you will be responsible for promoting a culture of ethics and integrity, fostering awareness and understanding of ethical issues among employees, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders. Your expertise in ethical and sustainability standards will enable you to provide guidance and support to teams in addressing complex ethical challenges and making informed decisions. Ultimately, your contributions as a Global Ethical Manager will play a vital role in Sainsbury's commitment to conducting business in a responsible and ethical manner.

You possess a strong understanding of ethical standards, corporate social responsibility, and environmental impact, and you have the expertise to develop and implement robust ethical strategies and initiatives throughout the company's operations. With your excellent communication and leadership skills, you engage and inspire colleagues at all levels to embrace ethical values and behaviours, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. Your ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners allows you to drive positive change, foster transparency, and ensure accountability across the organisation. As the Global Ethical Manager, you play a crucial role in shaping Sainsbury's ethical culture and reputation, making a profound impact on the company's social and environmental footprint.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Ethical Expertise: Background in ethical sourcing or compliance, with a strong understanding of global and regional ethical policies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Audit Knowledge: Familiarity with SEDEX/SMETA audit processes and standards.
  • Leadership: Experience managing a global team, with the flexibility to travel internationally a few times a year.
